ABOUT
Arnar Ingason, better known under the moniker of Young Nazareth has been a powerhouse in the Icelandic Hip Hop scene for the past decade, both as a producer and a DJ but mainly as a background figure in other artists’ careers.
Alongside his work in Iceland and Germany, Arnar has been crafting his own sound that tries to blur the lines between Hip Hop and dance music, drawing influences from his upbringing in Iceland, his current surroundings in Berlin as well as the UK’s Grime, Bass and UKG scenes.
His first solo outing ‘200 101 vol. 1’ features an exploration of the history of Icelandic Hip Hop through the sonics of dance music, where each track either samples or references Icelandic Hip Hop, making it a fitting segue from his work in Hip Hop towards his own dance-focused sound, and has received nominations for album of the year in various publications in Iceland.
In addition to his ongoing ‘200 101’ series, he has had tracks feature on VA releases on labels such as BCCO and TILT in Berlin.
